Meningitis is an infection of the protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord, these membranes are also known as meninges. This is a very serious illness, especially for infants and young people, that needs urgent treatment. Glandular Fever affects mostly teenagers but anyone can be infected. It's often referred to as the Kissing Disease, as it's spread through contact with saliva or sharing food. Whilst glandular Fever (or Mono) can get better on its own, it can last and remain for many months, leaving the patient very weak and often exhausted and so is not to be underestimated, this can be very dangerous.
